IN MEMORY OF ADAM WEST

Sadly we have lost a well-loved member of our Sun Valley community. Whether our paths crossed at the Post Office, our local market, or at his wife, Marcelle's beautiful store - Maison et Cadeux, he always exhibited a quick wit,had a kind smile on his face, and a helping hand for his neighbors. You are missed, Adam.

Summer Newsletter 2017

After a long and very "wintery" winter, summer is trying its best to show its face in the Wood River Valley. Mother Nature hasn't quite made up her mind about temperatures, though. We are bouncing from highs of 79 to a high of 49 and them back again to upper 60's. It makes it difficult to change over closets from winter clothing to summer! Planting summer flowers still seems to be a few weeks off. However, temperatures don't really affect our knitting and needlepoint projects. We can work on them no matter what the weather! We are receiving our summer stock - knitting and needlepoint. There are many new projects to choose from. And, as usual, we will be hosting needlepoint trunk shows. Susan Roberts Needlepoint Design will be in our store from July 8th - July 29th. Rebecca Wood will be in our store in August and we will probably have a third to be announced. We have a new website up and running that we will continue to update. It has many more photos and products that can be purchased from the site or in the store. We also have some new Sun Valley Needle Arts knitting and needlepoint accessories that make great gifts or just fun additions to our own project bags. Check out our new class schedule - we have posted all three summer months in this newsletter.

SUSAN ROBERTS NEEDLEPOINT DESIGN TRUNK SHOW
** THINK SUMMER STITCHING! **

It is once again time for us to host a trunk show from SUSAN ROBERTS NEEDLEPOINT DESIGN (http://www.susanrobertsneedlepoint.com) ! Susan has been designing for years and has a very extensive line of canvases. She lives on St. Simons Island in Georgia so naturally has many seaside themed canvases featuring some beautiful shells. She has a large selection of Christmas canvases, coasters, Easter Eggs, Judaica, games, and insects to name just a few. Besides her own designs, Susan Roberts distributes canvases from other needlepoint artists including Liz Goodrick-Dillon, Ashley Dillon, Barbara Eyre Ltd., Cool, Carol Dupree, EP Arts, H Calderon, KMT Originals, MountainHeir and Patricia Ezzell. We are featuring one of her "Best of Both" trunk shows which means we will have a varied selection of canvases from all of the artists that she distributes. Take a look at her website (http://www.susanrobertsneedlepoint.com) to see all that is available.

There is a 20% discount for items from this show and we will honor this discount for special order canvases as well as for canvases that we have as part of the trunk show in our store.

NEW YARNS THIS SUMMER!

CUZCO CASHMERE

This NEW yarn is part of Plymouth's Treasure Collection. The petite balls feel so soft and decadent. Superbaby Alpaca, Mulberry Silk, and Cashmere blend together to create a softly shimmering sport weight. This perfect blend has an excellent "bounce" when knit, creating a stretchy but silky fabric. Six colors in soft summer shades are available.

BLUE SAVANNAH

This is a local Idaho yarn that has stolen our hearts. Kristen works with luxury yarn bases and creates original semi-solids, kettle dyed, and hand painted color ways. Allproduct is hand dyed by her in small dye lots. She takes inspiration from the life around her - her children, her garden and the beauty of Idaho. We have available multi-colored yarns with names such as "Cadillac Sky", "Meadowlark", and "Spanish Roja" among others and a lovely line of gradients sold as kits that are perfect for scarves.

FEZA YARNS

Feza yarns was started in the 1950's in Turkey. The families' third generation is a US resident and has been marketing his yarns in the states since 2004. Their passion is combining luxurious soft fibers and amazing colors into beautiful yarns. They market 100% Natural Yarns as well as specialty, novelty, hand Dyed and Organically Dyed yarns. One of their novelty yarns makes a scarf from one skein. It includes several different yarns within the skein and a pattern for the scarf is included with the purchase.

MUSHISHI

This thick and thin yarn is a wool and silk blend. A partof Plymouth's Italian Collection it lends itself to accessories such as hats and scarves as well as lovely sweaters. Because it is a worsted weight it appeals to many different skill levels as well as projects. Available in a wide range of hand-dyed colors Sun Valley Needle Arts has a large selection.

FEATURED PROJECTS

LEE NEEDLEARTS DRAGONFLY PURSE MIRROR

If you need a quick girlfriend gift that can be completed in three evenings this is the project for you! The mirror is available in several colors and if dragonflies are not your thing, there are several other canvases to choose from. And best of all, this is a self-finishing project. Instructions are included for placing the needlepoint canvas into the mirror - a 15 minute job!

THE PIONEER RESTAURANT

This is one of our newest canvases that portrays the iconic Pioneer Restaurant. There are very few visitors to our valley that do not visit the Pioneer at least once during their visit. Our local artist, Karen Jacobsen, has painted her vision of this special place. I personally can't wait to stitch it!

COLOR AFFECTION SHAWL

The perfect lightweight colorful shawl for this summer. It can be worn over the shoulders as a shawl or gathered up around the neck as a lovely scarf. We made ours with Plymouth Linaza yarn. We used two skeins of handpaint Linaza and one of solid Linaza. There are several color choices for this shawl.

NEW IN STORE!
